Unique
Bank is among the most progressive ones with a high degree of presence
in all metro cities. Being spread out , good communication has been
a major policy thrust by the company. The company had periodic open
sessions with the Chief Executive whenever he visited the city.
In these open sessions any employee can raise general and specific
issues.
The company also has an Intranet and a Bill Board System to post
new developments both within the company as well as in the market
place and Government.
Despite the policy of transparency and openness, several employees
felt that this was not effective. A recent example is cited to show
how official communication - either through intranet or through
meetings - lags unofficial rumors.
There was a News item that the bank has sold part of its equity
to a European Bank and that the European Director will become a
full-time Director In-charge of retail business. The employees complained
that they get information like this "nth hand". The company says
it has not released the information to any media and that they must
have snooped this from the Government sources whose approval the
company has sought.
